Small Business Majority’s Top Media Mentions of 2011 Call Attention to Issues Affecting Small Businesses
Washington, DC (PRWEB) January 11, 2012
Small Business Majority, a national nonpartisan small business advocacy organization, conducts extensive opinion and economic research with small business owners, policy experts and elected officials nationwide to bring small business voices to the public policy table. In 2011, research from the organization was mentioned in media outlets nationwide, calling attention to the issues small businesses face.
John Arensmeyer, CEO, Small Business Majority, said: “With 2012 already here, we’ve been looking back at the research our organization released last year. Over the course of the 2011, we delved deeper than ever into small businesses’ most vexing woes, to find out what they need and how to help them. Our research continues to provide valuable insight into which kinds of job-creating policies small business owners want enacted. Our presence throughout social media is evolving as we share our latest research and content on Twitter and Facebook. Subsequently, top media outlets around the country continue to cite our findings.”
Here are a few of the most widely circulated pieces surrounding research into issues affecting small businesses.
Small Business Majority research was cited in a New York Times story titled “Poll Finds Support Among Small Businesses for Tougher Fuel Economy Standards” providing in-depth discussion of our national energy innovation poll released in September.
In a Wall Street Journal article called “Poll: Small Firms Back Greenhouse Gas Rules,” our energy survey results were again the main focus.
In October, this survey was again noted. This time, Small Business Majority was cited by New York Times columnist Bruce Bartlett in “Misrepresentations, Regulations and Jobs.” Our polling found only 13 percent of small business owners see government regulations as their top concern.
A Forbes piece, “Does Regulatory Uncertainty Lead to High Unemployment?” mentioned the 13 percent figure, as well.
In November, we released state-specific energy innovation poll results. A Los Angeles Times piece called “Gasoline prices remain at record highs for this time of year,” touched on our survey results for California.
And in a story titled “New California healthcare laws expand consumer protections,” the Los Angeles Times again referenced us. This time, our work helping to bring California law into compliance with the federal Affordable Care Act was cited.
We appeared in the Wall Street Journal regarding healthcare issues, too. In “Small-Business Owners Group Raises Concerns Over PBM Merger” the story focused on our concern about the decreased market competition that would follow the merger.
Another piece discussing Small Business Majority’s healthcare work, called “Health Law in a Swirl of Forecasts,” ran in the New York Times in June. It emphasized our healthcare poll results released in January, which focused on tax credits and health insurance exchanges.
Following the January release of our healthcare research, founder and CEO John Arensmeyer discussed “How Health Reform Benefits Small Employers,” in Bloomberg Businessweek.
Our access to capital and government contracting work has also been spotlighted. “Shutdown cost to one small business: $ 60,000,” which ran in CNN Money, emphasized our presence at a White House meeting held to discuss small business lending issues with administration officials.
