<p>“Because motorcycle riders lack the same protection found in a car, these accidents can be extremely serious,” DeBerard said. “What’s tragic is that, in many instances, these accidents could have been avoided if the other vehicle involved in the wreck had been paying proper attention.”</p>

<p>The South Florida personal injury lawyer urged car, truck and bus drivers to focus on:&#13;<br />

     Leaving extra room between their vehicle and the motorcycle when following behind it or when making a pass on a two-lane road.&#13;</p>

<p>     Never turning in front of a motorcycle or moving into the motorcycle’s lane without first signaling and making sure there is proper distance in front of the motorcycle.
<p>Under Florida law, a motorcyclist can ride without a helmet as long as they are at least age 21 and have a minimum of $  10,000 in medical insurance coverage. However, for the sake of safety, DeBerard said it is important for drivers and passengers alike to wear a helmet at all times when on a motorcycle.</p>

<p>He also said it is important to contact an accident attorney right away if a motorcyclist is involved in a crash that was caused by another driver. Depending on the situation, the motorcyclist and passenger may be able to recover money for the motorcycle damage that covers hospital bills, lost wages, pain and suffering and other losses from the accident, he said.</p>

<p>“Every bike rider should wear a helmet,” said Lisa Melton, an assistant vice president with Amica Insurance. Choose a helmet that meets federal safety standards and is the correct size. A helmet should fit tightly on the top of the head and the straps should be secure under the chin. The helmet should not be able to move.</p>

<p>Here are a few other tips for bike safety:&#13;<br />

<p>  Make sure your bike is the correct size – your feet should be able to touch the ground when sitting on the bike. &#13;<br />
  Wear bright, reflective clothing when riding. &#13;<br />
  Place a light and reflectors on your bike when riding at night. &#13;<br />
  Check the brakes and gears on your bike to make sure they’re working properly, and make sure the tires are inflated. &#13;<br />
  Ride in the same direction as traffic.&#13;<br />
&#8220;Set a good example for your children by wearing a helmet when you ride. Talk to your children about bicycle safety,” Melton said. “Remind them to use caution, obey all traffic regulations and be especially careful at intersections.”&#13;</p>
<p>Bike riding is a great way to have fun with your family and exercise, Melton said, so make safety your top priority and enjoy the ride this spring and summer. </p>

<p>Chef Daly was educated at the Culinary Institute of America and did his externship at the world renowned Beverly Hills restaurant, L’Orangerie. By extending his externship, Daly also served as Chef de Cuisine at Rose Café.</p>

<p>In 1990 Daly accepted a position as Chef D’Partie at Checkers in Los Angeles where he worked with Thomas Keller and Robert Gadsby.
